This short short course is held over 2 full days and consists of 15 hours of face-to-face learning activities (includes an Ethics and Professionalism Module 1 training via webinar) and 10 hours of online/homework activities. The course provides participants with an overview of the legal system and its agencies. This contextual knowledge provides interpreters with the ability to analyse information in order to decode it and transfer it from one language to another. The course also explains the role of the legal interpreter, legal, cultural and other issues, barriers to effective interpreting, modes and techniques of community interpreting in the diverse and complex legal system - including but not limited to the criminal justice system, civil litigation and so on.

It enables persons who wish to practice as interpreters and/or translators to learn basic skills toward their preparation for examination and accreditation. This is a 1 day course which includes 4 hours of face-to-face sessions and approximately 2 hours of self study and online work. The course to provide participants with an overview of how the Australian health systems operate and interact and in this context examine the terminology specific to those settings.

The Introduction to Health-Legal Interpreting is a short hour course, which includes 6 hours of face-to-face training and approximately 4 hours of self study and online work.
