Prerequisite Course towards recognition & testing exam

The Introduction to Interpreting and Translation Course delivered in Melbourne on a regular basis, as well as via On-line Learning Program, is a prerequisite course for persons seeking recognition of their language. It has been developed for speakers of new and emerging languages, as well as for persons who have little or no experience in interpreting and translation and would like to learn basic skills of interpreting and translation with the goal of applying for recognition and/or sitting an examination. This is a 40 hour course in line with the requirements for recognition.

Introduction to Health-Legal Interpreting Course

This short course delivered in Melbourne and Sydney on a regular basis which provides participants with a general overview of interpreting in the Medical and Legal fields, two of the sectors where interpreters are most needed and engaged. This course will enable participants to enhance their job readiness and career opportunities and provide existing practitioners with the opportunity to refine their skills. You will obtain professional development points for recertification when you attend this course. One-on-One Custom Tailored Training

Language Experts has extensive expertise and experience in providing one on one preparatory training aimed at current and future interpreting and translation practitioners who:

  • Are interested in translation and interpreting as a career
  • Would benefit from essential skills needed to acquire certification or recognition*
  • Want to upgrade their certification credential, including those preparing for the Provisional and/or Certified Interpreter or Translator tests in any language
  • Persons wishing to participate in preparatory studies with a view to further training
  • Want to develop and maintain existing skills
  • Practising interpreters and/or translators in any language and at any certification credential wishing to maximise their career opportunities
  • Persons who are registered with a Job Network/ Rehabilitation provider, or persons who are applying for a visa and are seeking to gain additional points towards their permanent residence visa, with the aim of pursuing a career in translating and interpreting.

Persons wishing to have one-on-one training which is language-specific are welcome to express their interest via Enquiry Form on this page, stating clearly their languages and whether it is interpreting or translation that they are seeking to have training in. Potential candidates will undergo an initial assessment of competency, consisting of an interview to assess existing linguistic and interpreting/translating skills. Following the assessment, appropriate training towards examination will be recommended, including:
